Sun set out our Hotel window at the El Convento ,PR |
The view from the balcony at the Hotel Convento |
I'm not sure of the name of this but I know it has special meaning to the people of Purto Rico, I plan on finding out and will post. |
I knew that I would like Old San Juan, but I had no idea I would love it!
We ended up staying at the El Convento Hotel and it was just perfect. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the beautiful architecture inside and outside of the hotel.
There is also a restraurant located inside of the hotel. The selections on the menu are very impressive. A little on the expensive side though. If you're looking for something a little lighter, right at the bottom of the stairs you will find the coolest little pizza place and brewery. The beer selection is one of the best I have seen. The way your food is presented is also a plus. It was much more to my liking than the fancy one upstairs.
At the hotel there is a cocktail hour , I believe at 6:00 pm and they put cheese and crackers and assorted wines out for everyone. It's help yourself. I must say it is one of the nicest places I have stayed for the price.
In the morning you are greeted by a server all dressed in white and she helps you with your coffee or tea (served in a beautiful shiny silver pot) and some pastries. There are water bottles in a bucket for you to help yourself to bring on your adventure of the day. I give it a 10!!
We walked the streets of Old San Juan and my camera really got a work out! I was so fascinated with all of the doors.....I think I have 30-40 different pictures of doors! Talk about an awesome place for photos.......
I think I may have to have another post about our walk through the city...there is so much to write about. I truly was surprised with it's beauty.
My next post will fill you in on all of the great things we saw, some for the tourist in me and some that are off the beaten path.
So check in next time and and see Old San Juan! Happy Travels!
